1. Wear resistance
When the blank is plastically deformed in the mold cavity, it moves and slides along the outside of the cavity, causing intense friction between the outside of the cavity and the blank, which causes the mold to become effective due to wear. Therefore, the wear resistance of the material is one of the most fundamental and important functions of the mold. Hardness is an important factor affecting wear resistance. Under normal circumstances, the higher the hardness of the mold machine, the smaller the amount of wear and the better the wear resistance. In addition, wear resistance has nothing to do with the type, number, state, size and distribution of carbides in the material.
2. Strong toughness
Most of the working conditions of the mold are very stubborn, and some often suffer a large impact load, which leads to brittle fracture. In order to avoid the sudden brittleness of the mold machine during operation, the precision metal mold must have high strength and toughness. The toughness of the mold mainly depends on the carbon content, grain size and structure of the material - precision mold manufacturing.
3. Fatigue fracture function
During the working process of the mold, under the long-term effect of the cyclical force, it often causes fatigue and fracture. Its form includes small energy repeatedly hitting fatigue fractures, tensile fatigue fractures, contact fatigue fractures and tortuous fatigue fractures. The fatigue fracture performance of the mold mainly depends on its strength, toughness, hardness, and the content of inclusions in the material.
4. Low temperature function
When the working temperature of the mold is higher, the hardness and strength will be reduced, which will lead to late wear of the mold or plastic deformation to take effect. Therefore, the precision injection mold should have high anti-tempering stability to ensure that the mold has high hardness and strength at working temperature.
